Feeling Measurements : Bird Walk, 2017

This workshop looks to consider radical intimacy in our local environments, through the act of considering our sonic relationships to shared public space, with a particular focus on bird sounds/songs in the downtown area, the harbour and Meegan (Beacon Hill Park.)

The sonic levels of cities are increasing with time and we will look at how this has affected local bird populations. On this bird walk with Estraven Lupino-Smith we will look out and listen for chickadees, bald eagles, starlings, pigeons, gulls and more and askung: how does our knowledge of the sights and sounds of birds affect our attentiveness to our environment and surroundings? This will lead us to explore how our knowledge about local geographies and histories, alongside our subjectivities, affect our embodied experiences of city sounds in general?
