2013, 28 pages, b+w

Varpu Lindström (1948-2012) was a Finnish-Canadian writer who by tirelessly compiling stories, articles and interviews on Finnish immigrants, became known as the memory keeper of the Finnish-Canadian community.

Lindström’s work covers the core years of Finnish migration to Canada, between 1890 and 1960. She focused on the stories of Finnish immigrant women’s experiences in Canada as maids, camp cooks, bootleggers and sex workers.
